Duathlon Race Results and Performance Highlights

Started with a bang — an age group win in April before a car accident and broken collarbone rewrote the plans. Most people would have called it a season. Instead, a comeback podium in late August proved the run-bike-run engine was still firing, plates and screws and all.

One race, one age group wins. Cholmondeley Castle’s standard duathlon and a category top step to show the run-bike-run legs were still very much there between all the 70.3 and long-distance triathlon racing.

The year duathlon went ultra. The London Ultra Duathlon — 20km, 77km, 10km — and not just an age group win but an overall gender win and second place on the day. When you’re running and riding past everyone in the field, the format clearly suits.

A triathlon that lost its swim and became an accidental duathlon, plus the classic season bookends — one to kick things off and two to close it out. A win and two second places in the age group made it a properly productive year on the run-bike-run circuit.

Covid wiped out most of the calendar, but duathlons bookended the season — one early, two late, and an age group podium squeezed in between lockdowns. When the racing window opens, you take what you can get.

Two duathlons to close out the season and an age group win to show the run-bike-run format was more than just an afterthought. Turns out not needing to swim has its advantages.
